Infographics are awesome!

Hi folks!

Are you ready for the Spring Break?  I'm sure you are!.
But before our holidays start, I want to speak about an awesome resource for the classrooms and very useful for the students. It's name is "Infographic".

An Infographic is a visual representation of information and data. By combining elements of text image, chart and diagram. It's an effective tool to present data an explain complex issues for better understanding.

Some of the benefits of using Infographics are:

- Infographics are more "eye-catching".
- Infographics help to connect with the audience.
- Infographics allow us to be more creative.
- Infographics create context.

I decided to design my first Infographic using Canva. This poster was created in order to help students to express their emotions and feelings. It's intended for first graders and the topic of the English Lesson is "Emotions"Emotions are something that people experience every day. It's important to ask every day to our students "How do you feel today?". Aside from asking it as a good routine to start our lessons, we have to ask about themselves because we are truly interested in knowing how they feel and we have to promote discussion and a nice atmosphere in order to share special news.

In my opinion, the first step in teaching about emotions is to engage the students with picture books or posters and keep their attention. This Infographic can help them to differenciate some different emotions and recognize what face is related with every emotion. Also, they can appreciate short sentences and with this visual resource we can introduce new vocabulary and work with them "Word Repetition" and help them to improve their pronunciation in English. After presenting the topic, we can also sing a song in which they can mimic or have a little fun and ask the students to mimic the face from the pictures to show the same emotion.

Canva is a fantastic tool to design posters, it has lots of templates, images, shapes and frames. We can also upload images from our devices. The only disadvantage that I could see was it's slowness when I was trying to change the size of the images or when I was adding a text but in general terms it's a very good tool. Now, I will use Canva to design all the posters and Infographics for my CLIL Lessons. Infographics are not only useful for ESL (English as a Second Language) lessons, we can use them in every subject, they are always helpful!

There are also some other good tools in which you can design awesome Infographics and Charts. Please do not hesitate and take a look at them:
