A Webinar: A nice digital experience!

Hello guys!

How are you?

I'm so happy because I had the opportunity to see one of my teachers doing a great Webinar for the University of Barcelona. The webinar was called  "Mobile Learning and Digital Competence for Education".

In this webinar, Mª. Jesús García San Martín spoke about why the Digital Competence is vital for teachers and students.

Digital Competence is essential for learning, work and active participation in society. In other words, it refers to the confidential and critial usage of the full range of digital technologies for information, communication and basic problem-solving in all aspects of our lives. This sounds simple but to be honest, we don't  have a good level of Digital Competence.

Online Learning has not only one definition but it includes learning with the assitance of the Internet and a personal computer. So, Online Learning brings technology and social media together into a learning enviroment that allows for the flexibility that our very busy lives demand of us.

That is to say,  we have to be competent because we need to know how to evaluate, curate and select information  in order to make an effective use of information and apply this information to create and communicate knowledge. Also being digital competent allows us to create messages and transfer information using a variety of media modes, genres and formats.

So, What is AprendeINTEF?
AprendeINTEF is a website from the Ministry of Education and it offers an ample amount of good courses. These courses are divided into:
  • MOOC: Massive Online Open Courses.
  • NOOC : Massive Online Open Courses.
  • SPOOC: Self-Pace Online Open Courses.
And the latest trendy course is called  EduPills ( my fav one!😊😊😊😋😋). EduPills is an app that you can download on your mobile phone and you can do an Educational Pill in 4 or 5 minutes. They created Edupills because we are always with our telephone in our bags no matter if we are teachers, students or we have another profession... our mobile phones nowadays are as our keys... we cannot live without them!

So EduPills are my favourite ones because I can do a pill everywhere. For example: if cannot sleep i do a pill... if I'm waiting at the dentist..I do a pill. Guys, I recommend you to download this awesome app, you will learn many new things in just a few minutes.

Then, Mª Jesús García also commented about the importance of the Portfolio. The Digital Competence Portfolio for Teachers was designed to improve the Digital Competence of teachers through continuous self-evaluation. In this Portfolio you can add your biography, your self-assessment (you can assess your level in the 5 areas of the Common Digital Competence Framework for Teachers by INTEF). Afterwards, there is a dossier where you can organize the evidences of your digital competence such as labels, projects, badges and finally you can have a passport which shows the level of your digital competence and provides an overall view of the evidences that you included in your dossier.

We truly hope, to see soon a Decree or a Law related to The  Digital Competence Portfolio for Teachers. Teachers should  be prove to  have a C1/C2 level on Digital Competence because we are part of the Digital Era. Times have changed and also the learning methodology.

To conclude, I truly believe that these courses are a nice opportunity for teachers. Because we can continue training ourselves in our professional careers through their different modalities and do them at our own pace. As I mentioned above, we are part of the Digital Era and we need to adapt ourselves to the New Educational Demands  and make the most to explode the tools that we have in our classroom. That is to say, we must stay tuned.

I'm really thankful to have been part of the ICT course and this webinar because now I'm able to see how my digital competences  have improved since the beginning of the academic year.
Thank you so much Mª Jesús for inviting us to your webinar.

Longing to see you again guys,

Silvana 😘😘😘😘
